How to Use Nail Drill Bits (e-File Bits)

1. Choose the Right Bit for the Job

Each drill bit is designed for a specific task:

• Ball / Flame / Needle – Lift and clean cuticles, remove pterygium
• Rounded Cylinder / Pear / Bud – Smooth nail folds, polish plate, refine skin
• Straight / Barrel – Remove product, shape enhancements
• Cone / Tapered / Corn – Work around sidewalls and under nails
• Mandrel + Sanding Bands – Prep and shape natural nails

Always match the grit and shape to the service (prep, removal, smoothing, etc.)

2. Set the Right Speed

• Low Speed (5,000–8,000 RPM): Cuticle work, surface smoothing
• Medium Speed (10,000–15,000 RPM): Product refining or shortening
• High Speed (20,000+ RPM): Product removal only – not recommended near skin

Start slow. Increase speed only as needed and when you’re confident in control.

3. Work at the Correct Angle

• Use most bits at a 30–45° angle
• Let the side or belly of the bit do the work (not the tip)
• Avoid pressing down – use gentle, consistent pressure

4. Clean & Disinfect Properly

• After use, scrub with a brush and detergent
• Disinfect or sterilise according to manufacturer’s guidelines
• Ensure bits are completely dry before storing
